Was feeling stressed, somewhat ornery, and just plain annoying. Only cure is a sail. Best go by myself, don’t want to lose friends.

So what if small craft warnings posted. What do they know? Wind is light in this sheltered marina. Wonder why wind is so far south? Catalina Eddy must be acting up.

Alone, so I rig the jack line. Even got a PFD out.

In the main channel. Wind seems up. Did that just say 22 knots? Best take a reef in. Hell, might as well take two. Never tried a double reef before with this sail. And roll genoa half in for balance.

South is towards beach, best tack soon. New heading is directly out from shore. Seems to be more wind. Dang, it’s blowing 30 knots. Maybe NOAA got it right this time? Am I about to get beat up?

Strange waves, old, rounded and hardly any white stuff, yet over 6 foot. Really easy motion. Nice that double reefs work as advertised. Nice the sea is being nice. Fore deck taking just a few bigger waves.

Kind of relaxing. The motion was so easy I unconsciously put my drink on the cockpit bench whilst making a minor sail adjustment. And it was still there. As I said, strange waves for this wind.

Think I’ll change how the 2nd reef attaches. Looks a bit too far aft.

Much later shook out the reefs. It is down hill to the marina. An easy run. Was that a whale blow?

As I always say, every sail is different and all are good.
